AA + Stand Up To Cancer: 50 Miles Per Dollar
AA is offering 50 bonus miles per dollar donated to Stand Up To Cancer through Sept 30 with an AAdvantage Mastercard. Reasonable rate to close redemption gaps.
American Airlines is running a bonus miles promotion tied to Stand Up To Cancer donations. Between August 13 and September 30, 2026 (or until $5 million in qualifying donations is reached), donations made with an AAdvantage Mastercard earn 50 bonus miles per dollar donated.
There's also a 25 miles per dollar tier available for donations made without an AAdvantage Mastercard on the same donation page.
The minimum donation is $25. The maximum eligible for the 50 mile bonus is $10,000 per cardholder.
How does the math work out?
At the 1.4¢ per mile baseline I use for AAdvantage miles, 50 miles per dollar works out to about 70¢ of implied value per dollar donated. A few example scenarios at the 50 miles tier:
- $25 donation → 1,250 miles (worth ~$17.50 at 1.4¢)
- $100 donation → 5,000 miles (worth ~$70 at 1.4¢)
- $500 donation → 25,000 miles (worth ~$350 at 1.4¢)
Important Fine Print
These are bonus miles, not Loyalty Points. The miles do not count toward status qualification, Loyalty Points, or Million Miler status.
The 50 mile tier requires an AAdvantage Mastercard issued in the USA. The 25 mile tier is available without an AAdvantage-branded card.
Miles post by December 1, 2026.
Tax deductibility is reduced by the miles received.
My Take
It’s a good cause with a reasonable promotion attached to it. However I wouldn't recommend running out to donate purely to buy miles at this rate.
For anyone who was already going to donate to Stand Up To Cancer or a similar cause during this window, doing it through this AA-linked page with an AAdvantage Mastercard is a clean way to get bonus miles as a byproduct. Or for AAdvantage members who are trying to close a small gap toward a specific redemption, this could be a good way to do that.
Effectively you're acquiring miles at about 2¢ each on the gross donation.
