AA Expands Flagship Dining Access: What to Know

American Airlines is opening Flagship Dining access to all Flagship Business ticketed passengers. Previously this sit-down restaurant experience was restricted to Flagship First and Concierge Key status members. The announcement was paired with the announcement that LAX's flagship dining is reopening later this year.

American Airlines announced this week a major expansion of Flagship Dining access - the airline's premium sit-down restaurant experience within select Flagship Lounges. Starting soon, all Flagship Business ticketed passengers qualify for access.

What Flagship Dining Actually Is

Flagship Dining is AA's most premium ground-based food experience. Unlike the standard Flagship Lounge buffet, Flagship Dining is a proper sit-down restaurant within the lounge. The service is available at Flagship Lounges in MIA and DFW, with LAX coming online August 27.

Historically, access has been the limiting factor. Flagship Dining was primarily available to Flagship First passengers. Top-tier status members like ConciergeKey also had access. But standard Flagship Business passengers did not qualify.

It’s going to be interesting to see how crowded these spaces get. In some ways I wonder if it’s a way to alleviate crowding in Flagship lounges, especially with more premium-dense aircraft on the way.

The Secondary News: LAX Flagship Dining Reopens later this Year

Alongside the access change, AA is re-opening Flagship Dining in LAX. Details are scarce and the expected timeline is later this year.

My Take

I’m genuinely excited about this one. Flagship Dining has been on my list to try and the expanded access will help. I am curious to see how crowding works out, knowing a good deal of passengers will be eligible for access starting next month.
