Hyatt’s Online Points Transfers Are Finally Here (With Some Caveats)
World of Hyatt now lets members transfer points online with no paper forms. Limited to 525,000 points per year and 6 transfers. Here's what's changed.
Starting today (October 15, 2026), World of Hyatt members can transfer points between accounts online - ending the previous, painfully slow paper form process. The good news: it’s free. The mixed news: there’s a annual cap of 525,000 points and only 6 transfers per year.
There’s good news for anyone pooling Hyatt points: as of today, October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt is finally allowing online points transfers between members. No more filling out PDF forms, no more waiting days for processing, and no more sending emails to combinepoints@hyatt.com.
This replaces one of the more outdated processes in the Hyatt rewards program with something that now matches how many members - and households - use their points today. It’s a long-overdue improvement, but it does come with two new (but reasonable) limitations.

What’s Changing
Previously, if you wanted to transfer Hyatt points between accounts, you needed to:
- Download a PDF form from Hyatt’s website
- Fill it out with both members’ information
- Both members had to physically sign the form
- Email the completed form to combinepoints@hyatt.com
- You then had to wait a few days for the transfer to process
- And that was if no errors were encountered - like names that didn’t match exactly
Now the process is:
- Log into your Hyatt account
- Enter the recipient’s World of Hyatt number, name, and email
- Specify the transfer amount
- Hit submit
Much better! The transfer is still at 1:1 ratio, is free of charge, and starts at a minimum of 1,000 points in increments of 500 points.

The New Limits
Here’s where things have changed. The new system comes with limits that didn’t exist under the paper form process:
- Annual cap: Members can transfer up to 525,000 points per calendar year AND receive up to 525,000 points per calendar year.
- Transfer limits: Members are limited to 6 free points transfers per calendar year.
- Monthly limit: Only one transfer per calendar month (replacing the old 30-day rule).
While no one likes limits, these all seem pretty reasonable.
Why Hyatt Introduced the Caps
The caps appear to be an anti-fraud and anti points brokering measures. Making transfers more accessible increases the risk for point brokers to buy and sell Hyatt points through a chain of member accounts. As One Mile at a Time noted, this is a reasonable tradeoff . This new online convenience is well worth these limits
Context: Hyatt’s 2026 Hasn’t Been Great for Points Nerds
This change comes against a backdrop of some less positive Hyatt developments this year:
- The Hyatt-AA partnership ending on November 15, 2026 (with a new Delta partnership replacing it)
- The Chase Sapphire Preferred transfer ratio to Hyatt worsening
- Award chart devaluations affecting various properties
World of Hyatt has had a tough year in several regards, and this development partially offsets some of the frustration.
Who Benefits Most
- Couples and families pooling points. If you and your partner each hold World of Hyatt accounts and want to pool points for a redemption, the online process is dramatically easier than the old form approach. This use case was always allowed but was annoying to execute. Now points can be routed via the family member who has the highest Hyatt status, allowing you to book with all of your elite status benefits
- Friends and family coordinating trips. Members who occasionally transfer points to friends or family for specific redemptions now have a much smoother path.
- Credit card points transferers. If you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt points to Hyatt and then want to move them to someone else, this new process makes this considerably easier.

My Take
The convenience of online transfers for the typical couple/family use case is substantial. For most Hyatt members who occasionally need to transfer points, this change is pure upside.
The 525,000 annual cap mostly affects edge cases that most members won’t encounter. The 6-transfers-per-year limit could be a downside for some, but encourages larger transfers rather than frequent small transactions.
For anyone who’s been chasing Brand Explorer or using Hyatt’s Cash + Points options, the addition of online transfers adds another way to optimizing your Hyatt points balance across accounts.
It’s not a game-changing update but definitely is a ‘quality-of-life’ improvement that most members should appreciate.
